Claim form and payment information

The claim period in this settlement is closed. This page explains who could file, what the claim asked for, and how payments worked.

Claim period closed Deadline: November 30, 2015

Filing is closed

The settlement administrator is not accepting new claims through this site. The deadline to file was November 30, 2015. This page is an informational record, not a live claim form.

Who could file a claim

A person could file if they were in the settlement class, did not exclude themselves, and submitted a complete claim by the deadline. The class covered MacKeeper buyers who lived in the United States or any U.S. territory and made the purchase on or before July 8, 2015.

A claim had to be reviewed and approved before any payment. Filing did not guarantee a payment.

What the claim form asked for

The claim form collected the information the administrator needed to match a person to the settlement class and to send a payment. The general categories were:

  • Contact details and a current mailing address.
  • The email address used in connection with the MacKeeper purchase.
  • Information about the purchase and the product.
  • A signed statement that the information was true and complete.
  • Any supporting documentation the administrator requested.

The original form and its exact field labels are not republished on this site. A person who needs a copy of a form or a filing record should contact the settlement administrator.

How payment worked

The settlement created a $2,000,000 fund. A valid claim could receive up to $39.95. The final amount depended on the number of approved claims and the costs paid from the fund, including administration, any fee award to class counsel, and any service award to the class representative.

The parties estimated the class at about 513,000 people. If the approved claims required more than the available money, each payment would be reduced proportionally.

The Court granted final approval on November 5, 2015. Approved claimants were to receive a check after any appeals were resolved. The settlement materials said checks would expire 90 days after they were issued.

Check your connection to the class

This short checker helps you understand the class definition. It does not file a claim, and it does not provide legal advice.

Answer three questions. The result appears below. This checker runs only in your browser and does not send or store your answers.

Did you purchase MacKeeper on or before July 8, 2015?
Did you live in the United States or one of its territories at the time?
Did you ask to be excluded from the settlement class?

If you filed a claim

Keep any confirmation you received. If your mailing address changed after you filed, contact the settlement administrator so the record can be updated. Ask the administrator about a replacement check if a check expired before you could cash it.

This site cannot look up an individual claim, confirm a payment, or change a mailing address.

If you did not file a claim

The claim deadline has passed. The administrator cannot accept a new claim now. A person who did not file received no payment from the settlement and remained bound by its terms unless they excluded themselves.
